This has been a great year for us, this is reflected
quite simply by the amount of cans of archive film from weddings this year.

For though of you wondering about the image, it is lots of cans of reels of super 8 film containing hours and hours or priceless memories.

For everything else, there’s VHS.

We were commissioned to film the first demonstration of the Harman Kardon Logic7 HD system, as Grammy winning Producer Steve Levine produced two tracks that have been performed by Ivor Novello nominee Patch William for the Range Rover Autobiography.

11,400 foot of film used in 2007.

2007 has been an eventful year for us at Reel Sixty, we have filmed some fantastic events and weddings. In doing so we have consumed over 11 thousand foot of super 8 cine film.

I am really passionate about using cine film to give people a proper alternative to ‘cheesy wedding videos’, it makes me happy to be playing a small part in keeping the super 8 format alive.

2008 is going to be a great year, we are all fired up and praying for good weather and calm brides.We will also be exhibiting at the Designer Wedding Show in February so if you have a booking with us, please do come say hello.

Ice Hotel, Sweden

It started off with an Igloo and developed into the ICEHOTEL with guest visiting from all over the world. If it is possible to build a hotel of ice in a small village 200km inside the Arctic Circle, which strikes the whole world with amazement, then anything is possible. Having a wedding in a venue like this is indeed a fairy tale come true and we made it there to film Richard and Millie.

Richard and Millie are a delightful couple who clearly wanted to break the mould of ‘a normal wedding’, by braving the cold to get married at the ice hotel. They not only achieved this but also gained a once in a lifetime experience. We where delighted when Richard and Millie picked us to capture their wedding, filming conditions where challenging in places but we where spoilt by the beauty of this location. The temperature was about -25 degrees C, which was warm compared the the previous week when it had been as low as -40 degrees C.

I’m not going to try put into words how amazing this wedding was, have a look for yourself on channel 4 of the Reel60 TV.

In April of 1965, the Super cine film revolution began. The success of 8mm film was almost immediate and by the late 1960s, Super 8 home movie cameras were a common sight at family parties, special events and on vacations. It has inspired the invention of Video and DVD, and many of today’s great cinematographers and directors who began their careers with Super 8 film have come to embrace this small film.
